Florida's largest school rooftop solar projects

Tampa Bay Solar leads one of Florida’s largest school rooftop solar projects amid national solar growth

As solar energy adoption continues to grow across the United States, Tampa Bay Solar is proud to lead the charge in Florida with a significant project at Manatee School for the Arts in Palmetto. This rooftop solar installation is one of the largest of its kind on a school in the state, reflecting a broader national movement toward clean, locally produced energy and long-term energy independence.

A Nationwide push toward clean energy

Across the country, solar power is experiencing rapid growth. With the introduction of new federal incentives, such as the Inflation Reduction Act’s Domestic Content Bonus, projects that utilize equipment manufactured in the United States can now qualify for additional tax credits. As schools, hospitals, and residential communities increasingly turn to solar, the demand for high-quality, American-made systems continues to rise.

Tampa Bay Solar is meeting this demand with turnkey solar solutions that not only help Florida institutions save on utility costs but also qualify for valuable federal incentives

Manatee School for the Arts solar project overview

Tampa Bay Solar is currently constructing a 2-megawatt (MW) rooftop solar system at Manatee School for the Arts, utilizing 3,200 Enphase IQ8P-3P Commercial Microinverters, which are manufactured in the United States.

Once completed, the system is expected to:

  • Generate more than 3.8 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) annually
  • Offset the majority of the school’s electricity consumption
  • Deliver approximately $900,000 in annual energy savings

Steve Rutherford, founder and president of Tampa Bay Solar, stated,

“We’re aiming for a 90 percent reduction in utility costs. That means more funding for educational programs and facility improvements without compromising energy reliability or safety.”

     Innovative technology, built to last

The microinverters used in this project are part of a new generation of solar technology that offers increased efficiency and safety. Key features include:

    • .A 25-year warranty for long-term performance
    • A design that eliminates high-voltage DC wiring, enhancing safety
    • Compatibility with federal tax incentives tied to domestic manufacturing
    • Seamless integration with modern roofing and energy storage systems

This is the perfect time to go solar and help build a cleaner, more affordable future for Florida.

Using U.S. made components not only strengthens the supply chain and supports American jobs but also enhances the financial viability of solar projects for public institutions, such as schools and universities.

Tampa Bay Solar’s commitment to a cleaner energy future

This project demonstrates Tampa Bay Solar’s strong commitment to providing reliable, affordable, and environmentally friendly energy solutions throughout Florida. With experience in homes, businesses, and schools, the company helps clients reduce their energy bills and lower carbon emissions without compromising performance or efficiency.

As national programs encourage clean energy investment and energy costs remain high, the timing has never been better to consider solar energy for long-term savings and sustainability.

     Partnering with Florida’s solar experts

Tampa Bay Solar is proud to lead a major solar project in Florida’s schools and is committed to helping the state move toward clean energy. We encourage property owners and facility managers to go solar to:

    • Maximize federal and local tax incentives
    • Cut electricity costs
    • Invest in long-term energy independence
    • Support U.S. manufacturing and green job growth

This is the perfect time to go solar and help build a cleaner, more affordable future for Florida.
